A comedic and loving feature film fairytale from Argentine director Silvestre Jacobi, set in rural Jamaica. Roots Time is the story of Jah Bull and Baboo, two aging and amiable Rastafarians who travel the backwoods and shanty towns of the Jamaican countryside selling used records and dispensing folk wisdom from their colorful old car. By chance, they find their favorite radio broadcaster Farmer Roots hitchhiking, in an attempt to take his sick girlfriend to a hospital. Because of their Rastafarian principles, the heroes eschew traditional medicine and convince the DJ to take her to a local African faith healer instead. Getting to the herbsman turns to be much more difficult than expected, and all manner of misadventures ensue.
