(Jericho´s Echo: Punk Rock in the Holy Land), Liz Nord / USA - IZR, 2005
English version / Czech subtitles, 75 min
A probing look at the current conflict raging in the Middle East from a highly alternative vantage point - that of young Israeli punk rockers. As in most places, the punk rock scene in Israel is small by definition, marginal by choice and almost fanatic in its dedication. Unlike most places, here it exists against an unremitting backdrop of war, terrorism and political tension. This leads to difficult choices for the younger generation, in particular for those who choose to leave the mainstream. Many of these center around religious identity and military service, issues which in Israel can change the direction of one's life. Jericho's Echo penetrates to the heart of this dillemma, ultimately conveying a positive and truly democratic message.
Before screening will be shown a short film Our Daily Bread.
