Patrick Braden is another one of Neil Jordan´s outstanding characters. Patrick is a popular man, unsuccessfully trying to project an image of a rough guy. He has known since childhood that he is different than other boys. Nonetheless he defends his world and everything it stands for. The film discloses transsexual transformations of a young man set against the background of London underground cabarets in a time when the “sexual revolution” of the hippies had dominated even over the British conservative culture.
