(El séptimo día), Carlos Saura / ŠPA - FRA, 2004
Spanish version, 113 min
The latest film by Carlos Saura, director of Salomé and Goya in Burdeos, is based on a series of crimes, which took place fifteen years ago in a small village in the Spanish hinterland. At the centre of events is a family feud, whose deep-seated grudges and lasting hate lead to a toll of 9 dead and 12 wounded people. Victoria Abril and Juan Diego, who deliver sublime performances, head the cast. Spanish ‘underground’ writer Ray Loriga wrote the script.
