Shadowed

A young man arrives at an abandoned building to practice his tap routine. Through his dance he conjures up distant shadowed memories of a previous visit. Choreography by Todd Holdworth and Sofia Souri. Shadowed has won the ‘Diorpahte Encouragement Award’ at Cinedans/ dancescreen 2010.

Fl-Air
Laura Vanborm, BE/NL 2010, 4 min
In FL-Air Laura Vanborm looks closely to the spectrum of human movements. Vanbrom tries to magnify the moment of flying, floating, hovering. The brief time window one floats in the air, the losing conflict with gravity reveals a whole cosmos for observation. In the world of images created by Laura she tries to stick sculptures on the viewers retina who ignore the laws of physics. In FL-Air there are four dancers, four accumulations of human complex movements, who explore the brief moment of flying.

Red Shoes

Red Shoes is a modern gritty cinematic adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale. Starring Anne Plamondon with choreography by Plamondon and Victor Quijada, Red Shoes uses the old Gothic tale as the basis to explore the themes of psychological possession and self-deception. When we are first possessed, we are often not aware of our own possession. It is only after we have been deceived by that which once offered us empowerment, that we come to realize we are not in control of ourselves.

Tauperlen

Tauperlen is the second collaboration between dance company T.r.a.s.h. and filmmaker Gido Leytens. It is a journey of undefined souls who are neither allowed into heaven, nor sent tot hell after they have passed away. They live on the edge of heaven and hell. Anonymously and with a loss of memory they are looking for their right to exist, in limbo.Tauperlen is inspired by scenes of the performance íSA (2008). It is a search for contra colour: instilment versus chaos, subtlety versus explosion. Choreography: Kristel van Issum; music: Arthur van der Kuip & Jeroen Strijbos; performers: Jose Agudo, Fiona Keenan O’Brien, Guilherme Monteiro Miotto, Tegest Pecht Guido and Lucie Petrušová.

Goddes

Goddess shows a female model shaking head and body in rhythmic movements. White glitter is sporadically released from her hair. The action itself remains without any purpose.

Vertiges

Vertiges describes the mad rush of modern woman, the one who wants it all, who seeks to control her life and therefore is exhausted and out of breath. This short film is the central part of the piece Vertiges, choreographed and danced by Stéphanie Decourteille. The film illustrates over and over again the mad rush of today’s woman.

The well-received dance film Beyond contains a lot of twisted steps from different dance styles put together in an ironic way that only The Line can do. Choreography, dance and producers: The Line.

A woman carefully observes the minute sensations and intricate happenings that inhabit her. She lingers on the shapes and textures that create her inner landscape. Through a collection of visually striking animated experiments, 12 Sketches explores the spaces where nothing happens: the liminal zone that exists between inside and outside, between you and me, sound and silence, movement and stillness. Performers: Selina Papoutseli & Tom Lyall 12 Sketches on the Impossibility of Being Still has won the VIDEODANCE (IDN),, BARCELONA PRIZE 2011.
