(Přes Alpy na kole), Šimon Caban / CZ, 2007
Czech version, 58 min
We travel through the Alps to get to the sea, in winter to the mountains, having our breakfast at McDonald's in Rozvadov. But imagine what it was like in the Middle Ages when travellers were just discovering the mountain-passes through which they could cross the gigantic barrier separating Northern and Central Europe from the Southern coast.
Inspired by Norman Ohler's book, Travelling in the Middle Ages, the Czech architect, scenographer and traveller, Šimon Caban sets off on a journey through the old passes high above the Brenner Pass. He chooses a mountain bike as the ideal means of transportation. He considers it the best way to get to know the landscape, the towns and also himself. This film will be appreciated by anyone who dreams of adventurous travels but doesn't have the courage, time or money, or even by those who at least once packed for a holiday.
The author of the film, Šimon Caban, will make a personal appearance at the screening!
