Modern House

Modern House

(Moderní byt), Jan Moravec / CZ, 1971
Czech version, 35 min

This grotesque TV micro comedy represents a very different type of film than what TV viewers traditionally expect. The theme of a modern housing estate and its dwellers has been explored several times and in many ways but Jan Moravec came with a new concept in the early seventies. The apartment dwellers become here a strange community where people either hear or know everything about others, or, on the contrary, are lost and somehow sentenced to eternal wondering and searching in the concrete labyrinth.
