Against a background of highly important political events (Second World War, expulsion of Germans, Hungarian and Polish revolutions in 1956...) evolves a story of a mother and a daughter (V. Cibulková, E. Geislerová) who live in the mountains on the border of Czechoslovakia. The political changes enter their lives in a crude and merciless manner and evoke in them an unceasing desire to live. The film is a loose continuation of the Spring of Life done by the same work team: Milan Cieslar - Vladimír Körner. The film has many international awards.
