English version / Czech subtitles, 76 min
A documentary portrait of one of the most interesting of British directors and artists, Derek Jarman, who 15 years ago succumbed to AIDS. The director of this documentary, multimedia artist Isaac Julien, assembles Jarman’s portrait from the emotive talk of Jarman’s muse (Tilda Swinton), contemporary shots, Jarman’s family films and of course Jarman’s own statements. The author of the movies, Caravaggio and Blue, speaks about his art or political activities, thus giving a testimony about the life of an artist in the times of turbulent changes between the 1960’s and 1990’s. The documentary, as well as the retrospective of Jarman’s extraordinary creations, is brought by the Queer Film Festival, Mezipatra.
The screening is in partnership with the Mezipatra Queer Film Festival.
