SECONDSEXE: THE FEMALE ORGASM
A film full of erotic imagery can often elicit very strong and, even more often, very contradictory emotions. The SecondSexe: the Female Orgasm films, first screened at this year’s Circuito Off Venice International Short Film Festival, will not be an exception. The goal of these short films made by five women for French company SoFilles Production was to show female sexuality from a different angle. Sex and even more so pornography are often accused of being phallocentric. Because of this simplification I wish these films could help change the way this popular yet persecuted genre is looked on. Because of the topic and imagery the programme will be restricted to audiences of 18 years or over.
