The Corporation

(The Corporation), Jennifer Abbott - Mark Achbar / KAN, 2003
English version, 145 min

How do corporations function, these kingdoms that often have more capital than some countries of the world? To what extent are the governments subordinace to them? These are the basic question of the film that uses extraordinary, often grotesque, and sometimes shocking archive material of the parallel history of the increasing power of corporations. The document is based on the Joel Bakan’s bestseller The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, the collection of facts and photographical information is thought over in the commentary among others by the documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, economist Milton Friedman and linguist Noam Chomsky. An analysis of the machine of trade, and the power of corporations feeding upon it. Their sovereignty represents a danger event for the ideas of capitalism, from which they were born and in which they are hiding, having no restrictions, forever referring to freedom. Like organs without conscience, they are unscrupulously expanding in their pursuit of profit (ethics as the reflection of profit). (text Petr Kubica)
