This Ain't No Heartland

This Ain't No Heartland

(This Ain't No Heartland), Andreas Horvath / RAK, 2003
English version, 85 min

A journey across the U.S. midwest captures the moods of American countrymen during the war in Iraq. The documentary show set in the vast fields leaves the nation's heart thumping often surprisingly, grotesquely, and sometimes sends shivers down the spine. America is ill because of its mythic nature, yet, at the same time, it is the signs of myths, the external symbols of the solidarity and exceptionality that frame the everyday monocracy in order to keep the empire alive by giving it a transpersonal dimension.
