Serbian version / Czech and English subtitles, 72 min
It's been called the Serbian Woodstock - three days of music and madness as 200,000 revelers descend on the sleepy rural town of Guča for an annual competition of Balkan brass masters featuring virtually nonstop drinking, dancing and playing. For musicians ranging from village bands to touring icons like Boban Markovic, it's a chance to test their chops against the region's best; for attendees it's one long cure for whatever might be ailing them. Milivoj Ilic's documentary captures the crazed carnival spirit of the event (which figures in another MOFFOM 2008 entry, Trumpets' Republic) as well as the drama of the competition, focusing on two ambitious young players gunning for the coveted Golden Trumpet.
