A poor peasant journeys to the city in search of work. On the way he searches for some water to quench his thirst. Accidentally, he enters an apartment building, whose residents take him for a thief and chase him. He runs from one apartment to the other trying to escape his predicament. Along the way, he witnesses strange evens in the apartments where he hides. This Raj Kapoor classic received the Grand Prix at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 1957.
