I hear your scream (Ahendu nde sapukai)
dir. Pablo Lamar, Universidad del Cine (UCINE), Argentina, 2008, 12'
“From a certain standpoint, this is an inconspicuous film, yet in these most common of surroundings it is able to take advantage of the language of the film in creating an entirely unique and worthwhile film world. The principal roles here are not given to actors, or is the film a story about their lives. The main roles are filled with light, hues, contrasts, softness, darkness, and pause. And sadness, and life.”
Jury Spetial Mention Award
The Second Act
dir. Olmo Omerzu, Filmová a televizní fakulta AMU (FAMU), Czech republic, 2008, 43'
Cilie and her spouse Martin, a frustrated and self-censored translator, are the main protagonists of a final love story that slowly yet consistently loses its ideals. Between the monotony of life and Martin's never to be finished translation unfolds a story of a belated honeymoon trip that begins when, in real life, everything is already lost. The trip soon shows itself as an alibi for Martin's escape. The story begins in Prague, losing itself in Trieste. In the night, ships slide like heavy iron sculptures; the decision is Cilie's.

Plastic Bags
dir. Miloš Tomić, Filmová a televizní fakulta AMU (FAMU), Czech republic, 2007, 5'
A love triangle between plastic bags.
“Looking for poetry in everyday life is no simple matter. So try finding it in the garbage! This is a passionate, romantic drama with most unusual and unexpected players – trash bags. The film is full of humor, emotion and even mystery – because it really is a puzzle how the director was able to present such ‘actors’ so convincingly.”
Jury Spetial Mention Award
Anhalter
dir. Daniel Höpfner, Hochschule für film und fernsehen "Konrad Wolf" (HFF/P), Germany, 2007, 13'
Berlin, February 23rd 1959, 11.23pm. P. Hermann enters the empty entrance hall of the Anhalter Station, scheduled for demolition. The longer he remains in the building, the stronger his memories and visions of the past become. And as he gradually merges with the building, he experiences the uplifting emotion of arriving at the "motherly cave of railways" (Walter Benjamin).
“Even industrial spaces can feel like the countryside - through dusty nooks and crannies and past worn out objects – memories of his past life. This is an autobiographical documentary in which an inconspicuous, dangerously selected middle-finger is a lifeless marionette.”
Centropa - Competition of student films from Central-European countries
