Charismatic and successful Jean-Dominique enjoys his life a tragic moment when he is suddenly struck with a brain accident after which his whole body is paralysed. “Born again as an eye” his only means of communication is a wink of one eye. His determination to live and work on is astonishing, depicted in the film with subtlety and distance from his own tragedy. The hero of this true story has in fact managed to “wink” a book on which the film is based.
