Hotel Very Welcome

The central characters in this feature that contains elements of a documentary film are five European tourists who travel around Asia. The protagonists have all come here for different reasons: fun and frenzy at full moon raves, relaxation through meditation, and even establishing contact with the real India. But reality takes them on a different road than they had originally anticipated again and again. For her final film at the Academy of Television and Film Munich, director Sonja Heiss travelled around Asia with her protagonists for several months. In four somewhat autonomous episodes Hotel Very Welcome provides a description of tourists from various countries that are seeking freedom, adventure and self-discovery. The film was a part of the Variety Critics Choice at this year’s Karlovy Vary film festival.
